Jennifer Lawrence Biography and Interview

Go back in time a couple years, and most people would have no idea who you were talking about when you mentioned Jennifer Lawrence. Zoom ahead to the present, and basically everyone has heard of her. Through recent success and awards with her Hollywood career, Jennifer Lawrence has made herself a household name and appears to be just as down to earth as ever.

Jennifer Lawrence had her first real role in television and film as daughter to Bill Engvall’s character in the TBS comedy The Bill Engvall Show. The show lasted for a few seasons, and after it was through, Lawrence went on to portray guest roles in shows such as Monk, Cold Case, and Medium. She reportedly tried out for the role of Bella Swan in the Twilight series, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately…haha!) lost out to Kristen Stewart. From then on, she played a couple of other characters in films such as The Burning Plain and The Poker House before she acquired the role that would truly turn her into a celebrity.

Though it has been said that Jennifer Lawrence’s true breakout role was the character she played in Winter’s Bone, the true film that catapulted her into stardom was The Hunger Games. The best-selling novel of the same name had been raved about, and the movie version was greatly anticipated by people all over the world. Once Lawrence was named as the lead role of Katniss Everdeen, the buzz around her continued to grow and grow.

Then, once the film actually came out, people grew wild for her! She did the role justice, portraying Katniss in an amazing way, yet she also appeared down to earth, witty, and seemingly normal on the red carpet and in interviews. Deadly combination, wouldn’t you say?

While the buzz continued to grow surrounding Jennifer Lawrence, she continued to astonish us with her acting when the film Silver Linings Playbook came out on the big screen. While we had seen a few sides of Lawrence and her acting ability, this movie showed us what she could truly accomplish.

Playing the role of Tiffany Maxwell, Lawrence did the character justice and wowed us all. She went on to receive many accolades for the part, winning both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Actress.

As mentioned above, we love Jennifer for her amazing talents but also for her real-life personality. Young people everywhere adore the fact that she seems just as awkward and weird as the rest of us, not blending in with the rest of Hollywood but sticking out in a very good way instead.

She’s been quoted saying ridiculous things, is more than outspoken on the red carpet, and is unashamed to be herself in talk show interviews. For a sample of why she’s so ridiculously wonderful, check out the following things she has said:

On learning how to act:

“I was just like a pathological liar when I was a kid. I think […] I just wanted to one-up somebody. Somebody would be like, ‘Oh, God, my legs hurt.’ I’d be like, ‘Your legs hurt? I’m getting mine amputated next week.’ And that’s actually how my mother found out. She came to school and somebody was like, ‘God, that’s such a shame about Jennifer’s legs.’ She made me purge. […] I had to spill out all of my lies. I was like, ‘I said that Dad drove a barge, and we were millionaires, and you were pregnant, I had to get my legs amputated, and I spayed cats and dogs on the weekends.’ Now I can’t lie. Now I get anxiety over it.”

On exercise:

“I hate saying, ‘I like exercising’ — I want to punch people who say that.”

On her career:

“Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”

On being an adult:

“I always feel like an idiot every time I fly first class because I’m a kid. And I just sit there, and everyone’s got their newspapers and they’re on the computer, and I’m like, ‘Can I get a coloring book, please? Can I get some crayons?’”

With all this raving about Jennifer Lawrence, what can we expect from her in the future? Thankfully, lots of things! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is through with filming, expected to be released in November 2013. She’s also currently working on the next film in the X-Men Series, reprising her role as Raven/Mystique.

Aside from those big ones, Lawrence is starring alongside Bradley Cooper yet again, this time in Serena, a movie which is expected to release in September. Finally, she’s working with Bradley Cooper on one more project. This one is entitled American Hustle, coming to the big screen in December of this year.

So, thankfully, we have a lot to look forward to when it comes to Jennifer Lawrence. While we wait for her new films to come out and rewatch the old roles she has played, Lawrence is bound to keep us entertained with her witty humor, seeming lack of embarrassment, and down to earth way about her. You go, girl!
