The Hottest New Music 2013
On a warm summer day, one of the absolute best things is to go for a long drive with the windows rolled down, blasting the music of one of your favorite artists. Of course, we all get bored with the rotation from time to time. So, what can we expect from music this summer? Which artists and bands are coming out with new albums? Keep reading for the scoop on the hottest new albums of 2013.
30 Seconds to Mars – Love Lust Faith + Dreams
As the fourth studio album for the rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars released Love Lust Faith + Dreams on May 21st. According to lead singer Jared Leto, the goal was “an album that has ebb and flow and content and structure.” The album is separated into four parts, each determined by the name itself and clarified with the voice of a woman on the tracks. Featuring “Up in the Air” as a successful lead single, this album is definitely worth checking out.
Daft Punk – Random Access Memories
Since the release of Tron a couple of years ago, Daft Punk has been extremely successful in the electronic music genre. On May 21st, they released their fourth studio album entitled Random Access Memories. Apparently the album is a tribute to the ‘70s and ‘80s of Los Angeles, featuring collaborations with many artists including Pharrell Williams on the lead single, “Get Lucky.” If you’re into catchy, danceable, funky music (come on, who isn’t?), then this album is one you should consider buying.
Darius Rucker – True Believer
If you’re a country music fan, another album you may want to pick up after May 21st is Darius Rucker’s latest. As his fourth studio album, Rucker hopefully produced a set of tracks that are perfect for a day at the beach, a backyard barbecue, and a long road trip, as well!
Jimmy Eat World – Damage
If you feel like going back in time a bit to your younger days, this album by Jimmy Eat World may be up your alley. Set for release on June 11th, it will be the eighth CD for the rock band. As the lead singer states, “I’m 37 and the world around me is a lot different than when I was writing break-up songs in my 20s. I tried to reflect that in what the lyrics are.” So this album may be a bit different, but I’m sure it still has that Jimmy Eat World catchiness and vibe that people loved from the start.
Kanye West – Yeezus
On June 18th, we’ll all have the pleasure of picking up Kanye West’s sixth studio album, Yeezus. Whether you’re a fan of Kanye or not, I’m sure this record will make quite a statement as he always seems to do. Mainly recorded in Paris and produced by the likes of Skrillex along with other collaborations included, this album is definitely one of the most anticipated of summer 2013.
John Legend – Love in the Future
Perhaps you’re in for a more singer-songwriter, R&B type of voice. If so, you need to pick up John Legend’s newest release on June 25th. His smooth, ever so appealing vibe will win you over, and the fact that he produced it himself shows that he really must love this album from start to finish.
Chris Brown – X
While a lot of people out there may remain out of support for Chris Brown, it’s still hard to deny that the guy has some chops and a way of creating a pretty darn catchy song. With his newest release coming on July 16th, we’ll be able to see what he has in store for us. As his sixth studio album, the first single, “Fine China”, set the album off with pretty good expectations. Featuring collaborations with Rihanna and the late Aaliyah, I guess we’ll have to wait to see just what Brown has in store for his fans.
Backstreet Boys – In a World Like This
Boy bands return! Going on tour with New Kids on the Block this summer, the Backstreet Boys are apparently back again! With this album release on July 30th, they can add to the excitement of their recent star addition on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their 20th anniversary. Hopefully the Backstreet Boys are able to keep up with the music industry after all these years and produce an album that is perfect for summertime lovin’.
While there is certainly a lot more great new music coming out over 2013, the above albums are particularly intriguing. Depending on your musical taste and preferred genre, there truly is something for everyone. Which album are you most looking forward to? What screams summer to you?
